From Pinterest Skeptic to Strategic Growth: How Sheri Revived Her Quilting Business with Pin Potential [Pin potential case study]

Feeling burned out by social media and not sure if Pinterest is really worth it for your online business? Wondering if Pinterest can work for type of business model? Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill, a professional quilt pattern designer and the founder of Whole Circle Studio, was right there too. A longtime creative entrepreneur and self-proclaimed online course skeptic, Sheri decided to give Pinterest another shot — and everything changed after she joined Pin Potential, my signature Pinterest marketing course for business owners. This case study explores her marketing transformation and what could be possible for your creative business too.

Sheri got to know me through my free Pinterest Growth Challenge sessions. She learned a lot and decided she wanted more! I am so honoured that she trusted me the way she did, especially because she is openly skeptical of the value of a paid course.

This case study shares Sheri’s journey from marketing and social media burnout to building a long-term marketing strategy that supports her thriving quilting business with Pinterest.

So, if you’re interested in Pin Potential but aren’t sure if it’s worth the time or money, this blog post is for you.

Meet Sheri: Quilter, Educator, and Creative Business Owner

Sheri runs Whole Circle Studio, a modern quilting business that empowers makers to create meaningful projects for their homes and loved ones. She offers PDF and printed quilt patterns, Zoom workshops, embroidery kits, and education for quilters of all skill levels. Her business includes direct-to-consumer products and wholesale partnerships.

She’s a fiber artist, educator, and detail-oriented business owner who cares deeply about helping her audience enjoy the process of making.

The Pinterest Plateau: Traffic Without Strategy

Sheri started using Pinterest in 2015. Like many creators, she saw success early on without putting much effort into strategy. As Instagram and Facebook grew, she focused more on short-form content and let her Pinterest account “do its thing.”

Even without consistent activity, old Pins continued bringing in traffic. But Sheri knew she wasn’t taking full advantage of Pinterest’s power. Sound familiar? This is the case study for you!

Social Media Burnout & SEO Curiosity

Over time, Sheri grew tired of chasing short-lived attention on social media. She wanted her content to last longer, so she began blogging again. Sheri noticed that social media wasn’t working the way it used to and wanted an alternative to get more eyes on her business online.

As she dove deeper into SEO, she realized that Pinterest Pins were appearing in her Google search results. That’s when it clicked: Pinterest wasn’t just another platform—it was a critical part of a long-term marketing ecosystem.

She started cleaning up her old Pinterest boards, but quickly noticed how much had changed. The algorithm, Pinterest best practices, and content formats all felt unfamiliar.

She wanted help.

Finding Meagan Williamson, Pinterest expert and Pin Potential

Sheri had participated in a few of my free Pinterest Growth Challenges over the years. She remembered getting something out of it every time and felt inspired to try new ideas. She also bought the popular Pinterest Marketing Toolkit along the way, which she also found really helpful.

Each time, she walked away with useful ideas and real insights—but she realized she was ready for something more structured and strategic.

So she gave herself a personal challenge: post one Pin per day for 30 days. If she could stay consistent, she’d invest in Pin Potential the next time it opened.

Spoiler alert: she joined.

How do I know I’m ready for a pinterest course?

If you’re like Sheri and you’re starting to get more and more interested in Pin Potential but aren’t sure of the right timing, I understand! I always encourage people to join when they feel ready, and that’s exactly what Sheri did. Whether it’s because of capacity, or budget, or your own journey with Pinterest, being ready makes all the difference.

For her, being ready look liked this:

  • Consistent pinning strategy
  • Basic understanding of how Pinterest works
  • Desire to go deeper with Pinterest Analytics
  • Desire to make Pinterest part of a complete and healthy marketing and social media ecosystem
  • Previous experience with my free or low-cost Pinterest tools  (so she knew that I am not a scam!)

Have Doubts?

One reason I wanted to share my interview with Sheri is that she is an online course skeptic. She doesn’t jump into things like this and always tries to figure things out herself first before making an investment. I asked her how many other Pinterest courses she has taken, and her answer was, none! And she told me that other than Pin Potential, she was STILL an online course skeptic. I feel so honoured that she thinks so highly of my teaching style and the course content that she would be willing to go on record endorsing Pin Potential and its ROI. This means so much to me.

Sheri told me she was attracted by her previous relationship with me and the results she had achieved with my other offerings and products. She said I proved to her that I “know my stuff”.

I find that people usually say one of a few things when they turn down the opportunity to be part of this course:

  • “I don’t have time for a course.”
  • “I don’t have the capacity.”
  • “I just can’t do one more thing!”

The truth is, once your business reaches a certain level, you simply cannot afford NOT to make time for a course that teaches a proven strategy of growth and efficient work processes. One thing that helped Sheri overcome these particular obstacles was the fact that most of Pin Potential can be done at your own pace. The only thing that can’t are the live Q&A sessions. But even then, your access can be extended for a small extra fee!

Inside Pin Potential: The Tools and Lessons That Helped Sheri Thrive

I asked Sheri what she considered the highest-value feature of Pin Potential and she had a hard time narrowing it down!

Inside Pin Potential: The Tools and Lessons That Helped Sheri Get Results + Grow on Pinterest:

  • The content strategy module was transformative
  • Live coaching calls where every question was answered
  • Guest expert trainings on SEO, blogging, and UTM tracking
  • Lifetime access to all modules and updates
  • AI writing assistants to generate pin copy quickly
  • Work-at-your-own-pace structure
  • Help with identifying what content to post and how to format it

“Pin Potential goes way deeper than just Pinterest. Every module connects — it’s your whole marketing.”

And of course (and most importantly), Sheri started to see RESULTS. She told me that in the six months after she took the course and started to implement what she learned, a higher percentage of people found her email newsletter through both Pinterest and Google searches (so she gained email subscribers). The impressions on her account have gone up. And she is learning to read the numbers month over month and year over year instead of panicking about every little dip. She feels confident in understanding her Pinterest analytics and how to adjust her strategy.

Real Results from a Real CREATIVE ONLINE Business

Since joining Pin Potential, Sheri has:

  • Seen a steady increase in impressions and engagement on her Pins
  • Noticed more newsletter sign-ups from both Pinterest and Google traffic
  • Gained confidence in reading analytics month-over-month
  • Developed repeatable workflows for content and Pin creation
  • Built a Pinterest strategy that complements her blog and email list

“It’s slow growth, but it’s sustainable. Pinterest content lasts years, not days.”

Will you see a return of your investment of time and money from Pin Potential? Yes! Will it be tomorrow? Not likely! Will customers flock to your direct sales Pins and hit the “purchase” button? Not right away. Will you see an increase in impressions, newsletter sign-ups, and website traffic? Yes! If this sounds like something you need in your life and you can check off at least some of the items on the list above, Pin Potential is right for you.

“You’re so generous with what you know and supporting people — and this is coming from someone who is a class skeptic.”

Who Is Pin Potential For?

Sheri’s Pinterest case study and story shows that this course is a great fit if you:

  • Have a basic understanding of Pinterest (even if it’s rusty)
  • Are curious about how to use your analytics to drive strategy and scale your growth
  • Want help creating content that serves your audience
  • Are burnt out by social media and craving a slower, more strategic pace
  • Are ready to build sustainable, evergreen marketing systems
  • Prefer step-by-step guidance and thoughtful feedback from a Pinterest expert and educator

You don’t need to be a blogger or a coach. You can be a product-based business, artist, author, or creative service provider. If Pinterest plays any role in your top-of-funnel marketing, this course will meet you where you are.

Does My Niche Matter?

No! Sheri creates beautiful quilts for a living; I coach people on their Pinterest strategy. Others run foodie blogs or sell handbags out of their living room. ALL of us can benefit from Pin Potential! My favourite person in any industry or niche is someone like Sheri who has tried things themselves, understand the bigger picture ideas, and just need to be told what to do.

These people are usually asking two questions:

  • How do I fit Pinterest into my overall marketing plan?
  • How do I make Pinterest work for me in the short-and long-term?

Both of these questions can be answered by my course, no matter what your business is.

We can all admit that there are other people out there teaching quilting and that coach others on their social media (or whatever it is). But the important question is, what makes us unique? And Pin Potential helps everyone answer that.

What Will Change After Pin Potential?

Sheri told me a few things have changed for her as a result of the knowledge and tools she gained in the course:

  • More confident
  • Getting faster at content creation
  • Knows that everyone works a bit differently and that’s OK!
  • Deeper understanding of her overall strategy and how Pinterest fits in
  • Better understanding of how to read data over time

Thank you Sheri, for sharing your thoughts and experiences! Sheri’s Pin Potential review and in depth case study really shows how even skeptical students have had transformative experiences in Pin Potential.

In Conclusion

I know Sheri’s story before she came to Pin Potential looks a lot like other people’s: a business owner who’s been doing this for a while, who cares deeply about their audience, and who is ready to shift away from the “in the now” social media culture toward investments for the future instead.

I hope others will use this interview to discover the magic, because I do think Pin Potential is a special place. Ready to create a long-term, high-impact marketing strategy like Sheri?
